Same Day Edit

We’re bringing you another same day edit today! This time, in downtown LA! This was one of those weddings where we hit the jackpot with fellow vendors: Coordinator we love? Danielle from Couture Events, check! Photographer we love? Westlund Photography, check! Beautiful shooting locations? Walt Disney Concert Hall and Cafe Pinot, check and check!

Christine & Ervin are such a sweet couple (I mean, watch Ervin’s reaction to seeing his bride)! So, I was having a lot of fun working on this same day edit. Then, as we were getting close to show time, Christine came by and mentioned off hand that she works for a trailer house, and a couple of her coworkers were at the wedding too. A trailer house is a company who specializes in working with the major film studios to create trailers for their movies. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!! No pressure!

After we showed the film, and went to say bye, Christine said that not only did her and Ervin love it, it was a hit with her coworkers as well. Phew 🙂 Enjoy!!!

Same Day Premiere

As promised, here’s the second blog post of the week! We’ve talked about it here before, but the best wedding days are those where you & your spouse are wholly present and comfortable expressing your full range of emotions throughout the day. From the sobering gravity to the euphoric joy, being confident enough to wear it all makes us swoon. This is exactly who Marquita & Henry are. Their personalities are so inviting that you instantly feel connected to them and their relationship. Magdalena summed it up perfectly. She wasn’t at this wedding, but as she watched their same day edit in the office earlier this week, she said, “I’ve never even met them, but I want to be their friend.”

Congrats to Marquita & Henry! We all love you!

Same Day Edit

A few months ago, we spent some time here raving about this awesome coordinator, Karina. Well, on Memorial Day Weekend, we had the absolute honor of being a part of her own wedding! We were SO thrilled that her and James wanted us there, and we pulled out all the stops! In all of our years, we’ve worked in many different team combinations. But this was the first time ever that Mariah and I got together with both Taylor and Magdalena to form an Amari Dream Team™ (patent pending). It was so much fun and we loved getting to premiere this Same Day Edit! Congratulations to Karina & James, and enjoy!!!

Same Day Edit

Hey all! If you haven’t noticed, our blogging has been a bit sporadic recently. That’s because we’ve been hard at work over the last 4 months completely revamping all of our workflows, logistics, and oh god I’m boring you to sleep, aren’t I? Well, let’s skip the details and get to the important part: we now have MUCH more time to spend doing what we actually love: editing films! We’re still working on polishing the edges and squashing bugs, but we can already see a huge difference in how much time, and more importantly, mental space, we have to invest in projects. So, stay tuned!

Now, of course, we’re not just here to talk shop. Let’s watch a wedding film! On today’s menu, we have Caitlin & Zack’s Same Day Edit. These two got married this past weekend at Caitlin’s family home, which I LOVE! How cool, to be able to spend the greatest day of your life in a place with so much meaning and so many memories. It was a wonderful day, and we’re so excited to share this with you all. Congrats to Caitlin & Zack, and enjoy!!

Same Day Premiere

Future brides, listen up! (…er…read up?) I have some advice! If you are considering a coordinator for your wedding (I highly recommend you do!), then when you’re looking for reviews, don’t just ask their past couples, ask the vendors they’ve worked with! A good coordinator is on the bride and groom’s team all day long, advocating for them at all costs. A great coordinator, however, brings everyone together: bride, groom, parents, bridal party, vendors, etc., and creates ONE team. That may seem like semantics, but there is a very real difference. When you choose a coordinator from the latter category, your family will feel cared for, your friends will feel happier, and your vendors will be able to focus on their craft. Simply put, your wedding day will be markedly better. Karina, as with all of the other girls from Couture, falls into that second category, and we absolutely love her. I could spend hours on this subject, but I know why you’re really here: Jaclyn & Nick!

We actually got to work with Jaclyn last year, as she was the make up artist and friend of one of our past brides. We were honored to hear that she made it a point to remember to reach out to us once she was engaged! Meanwhile, Nick is someone I’ve watched on TV for years, pitching for the Padres. They also happen to be two of the nicest people we’ve ever met. This was one of the most fun days we’ve had, and we couldn’t be happier for these two. We hope you enjoy this Same Day Premiere!

Same Day Edit

This past Friday, we experienced what I can only describe as a perfect storm (for those of you who don’t keep record of every day’s weather, it was pouring rain Friday morning. So yes, this is a terrible, terrible pun.) When we first met with Matt & Kristin, they mentioned that they really enjoyed timelapses, and that they would love to incorporate them into their film. However, pouring rain doesn’t make for very good timelapse material. What DOES make for good timelapse material is partly cloudy skies. For example, maybe right after a storm clears out…

Yup! Right as everyone was suiting up, the weather suddenly flipped and the sun started peeking through. We were able to get some awesome shots of downtown. But then we left their hotel and headed for the venue, and it got exponentially better. See, we’d never shot at the Skybox before. And while we knew it was on the top floor and would have a view, we didn’t realize just how amazing that view would be. Suffice to say, we were running timelapses allllll afternoon and evening, sometimes 2 or 3 at a time.

So, a couple who requests time lapses + departing rain clouds + amazing views of downtown = perfect storm. (I know, it’s still a terrible pun. Just, let it be.)
